7-day Uganda safari itinerary

A realistic one-week route that balances big wildlife experiences with sensible travel days.

The route

Murchison Falls and Kampala, with room to adjust

Seven days is enough for one strong safari region without rushing. This route uses Murchison Falls as the anchor; Ituba can swap in Bwindi, Queen Elizabeth, or a southwestern circuit depending on what matters most to you.

Day by day

A sample 7-day plan

1

Arrive in Entebbe or Kampala, settle in, short city orientation.

2

Drive north to Murchison Falls National Park, afternoon game drive.

3

Morning game drive, afternoon boat cruise to the base of the falls.

4

Hike to the top of the falls, free afternoon or optional add-on activity.

5

Travel day back toward Kampala, with a stop along the way.

6

Optional Jinja add-on: Nile activities, or a relaxed day before departure.

7

Departure, or extend the route into Queen Elizabeth or Bwindi.

Why this works

Murchison Falls gives a complete safari experience — wildlife, water, and a falls hike — without the longer drives a southwestern circuit needs. It is a strong one-region option when a week is all you have.

Want a different focus?

The same 7-day frame can be rebuilt around gorilla trekking in Bwindi, or split across Queen Elizabeth and Bwindi for more variety in less driving time.
